Brian Malarkey was born on 26th September 1972 and grew up in Oregon. His parents divorced when he was young and he and his brother were raised by their mother on a ranch. He attended Le Cordon Bleu in Portland and graduated in 1994. He worked in Los Angeles at several restaurants, including that of Citrus, founded by French Chef Michel Richard.
